Trading Cards

Jo Forrest January 31, 2025

Trading cards, Jan 30 2025. Printed images, original photographs, and birds from a book, image of altered ‘moby dick’ book. Watercolour on paper, collaged, original poetry verses. My first time doing an event like this. I enjoyed it. I’ll do more to take next time, so they’ll be dry. They’re like my assemblages, and roughly the same size. It was fun.

Collage on photocopied playing card. Acrylic paint. I haven’t done the back yet, and they have to be flattened.

I didn’t want to use the original card.

12 cards, I need to do a lot more. They are fun to do. I have a verse to go with them for the back.

Some of the cards I’ve been working on. They’re in several states of being finished and unfinished. Some need verses to go with the images, some, the other way around. More fun than I thought they could be. I particularly like the ‘Dune’ Paul Atreides cards. Altered images and collaged images. Original verse.

‘The moth dreams the moon

in a silky cocoon,

worm-sign,

Atreides,

play ball’.

from love songs from the golden age, #1022 v:14

Card and Art Trading Card. Image photographed then imported into the computer then printed.

‘Superman’ assemblage, and the card made from the photograph. Tin, Superman stamp, heart jewel, paper, paint, glitter, verse from my poem ‘the best man at the devil’s wedding’.
